With hidICE Accemic has developed a solution combining the advantages of bond-out chip based in-circuit emulators and embedded trace modules which feature faster CPU clock rates and keep total systems costs low. The main idea behind hidICE (hidden ICE) is that trace data is not extracted with considerable effort from the target microcontroller, but instead is captured on a CPU emulation running in parallel. The bandwidth of the data to be transferred is lower than the bandwidth of a complete set of trace information which, for example, has to be transferred from the target CPU in embedded trace modules.
